Light in the Darkness- Nov. 21, 2023
I heard a speaker say once- People are not comfortable in darkness even in an area where we know what is present. It is the same with faith, so many choose to stay in the darkness when the Light of the World (Jesus) is right there to help us find our way out of our darkness, fears, and torments. I personally don’t know anyone who has a perfect life. It may appear that some are sailing through life with ease. They look so good from the outside, but many times later we hear that they have been falling apart on the inside. Holding on to their troubles and concerns and not letting others share in their lives with prayers and love.
This week we read- 1Peter 5:7-9 Give all your worries and cares to God. He cares for you. BUT, stay
alert for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to
devour. STAND FIRM against him and be strong in your faith. The devil, the king of darkness, is always there trying to make you trip, fear the unknown, and doubt yourself. This can make you feel depressed and alone in your woes, this is what the devil wants. He is also the best manipulator of words. I have fallen for his ugly words of doubt- that no one could
possibly understand my troubles.
But in 1Peter 5:5-6, Peter tells all of us to dress yourself in humility as you relate to one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” So, humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor.
So please, at this time of year of giving thanks and reflecting, know you are never alone. Thrive has a great team of people just waiting to come along side you in your fears and prayer needs. We all carry scars from living daily in a world that is hard. If you feel like you want a friend in Christ, PLEASE come to anyone with a “ask me” badge on, we are here to assure you- we do understand, and you are never alone! As Pastor Pete said in his sermon Sunday, “Even the smallest light can pierce the darkness. There is always Hope!
