Weekday Devotionals - LuAnn
I listened and heard Raquel’s sermon with all my soul. When she said - “What if death teaches us how to truly live?” (David Gibson, ‘Living Life Backwards’) I felt that deeply. I too have had an event in my life that shook me to the core and laid me flat out on my back with absolutely no control of my life. That is when I needed to make the decision, was I going to trust in God or in my own controlling ways. Well of course I had to try my ways first and failed miserably. I knew there were two ways this could play out- Fall into my enlarging pit of despair OR pull myself up and be a voice for the one God that had already saved me from my accident and from myself. Luckily, I was in tune with God enough to give it all to him. As Raquel said- God says you don’t have to carry your burdens alone, he will protect you and provide for you (Proverbs 3:5-6)
One of the providing keys is finding a faith community, a trusted group of Christian people where you can just be yourself. I am fortunate enough to have a group of ladies that know me and my heart inside and out. We have shared life together for over 6 years in a Zoom bible study and are never far from each other by text. We know that no matter what we will be there to pray for each other. You do know that Thrive church has prayer available for you? When you write a prayer request on that Sunday handout that request is prayed over by a group of prayer warriors that send it straight to God’s ears. Don’t be shy- nothing is new under the sun and they have heard it all.
God has shown me I still have plenty to offer, just the way I am. I get out of bed in the morning saying- What are we doing today Lord! I am a work in progress for sure, but I know that our God is big and always there for me even with the smallest issues. I trust God will lead me on the right path, just as he will do for you too.
Matthew 7:13-14 Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to the destruction, many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
