Weekday Devotionals - Samantha
Hebrews 12:1-2 (AMP)
"Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who by faith have testified to the truth of God’s absolute faithfulness], stripping off every unnecessary weight and the sin which so easily and cleverly entangles us, let us run with endurance and active persistence the race that is set before us, looking away [from all that will distract us] and focusing our eyes on Jesus, who is the Author and Perfecter of faith..."
Matthew 28:19 (AMP)
"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations [help the people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words], baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."
Filling the Earth with His Goodness
We are made in the image of God, created to reflect His goodness and faithfulness in every part of our lives. As we walk in surrender to Him, we become living testimonies of His love, carrying His light into the world. True surrender requires a heart that mirrors Christ’s—one that is kind, gentle, tender, compassionate, and humble. As Matthew reflects in 11:29, "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me [following Me as My disciple], for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest (renewal, blessed quiet) for your souls."
To be humble, or lowly, in heart means to embody Christ’s gentleness, choosing humility over pride, compassion over harshness, and kindness over self-interest. This posture of surrender allows God to go before us, guiding our steps. James 3 warns of the dangers of selfish ambition, which is the opposite of a surrendered life.
But if we continue to pursue heavenly wisdom which is pure, peace-loving, and full of mercy, our lives will reflect the character of Christ in every interaction. Instead of striving for control or recognition, we will seek to serve others with a heart aligned to God’s will. Our words will bring encouragement instead of division, and our actions will testify to the goodness of the One who leads us.
When we release control, God’s goodness flows through us, filling the earth with His glory.
Reflection Question:
Are there areas in your life where selfish ambition or pride are keeping you from fully surrendering to God?
How can you begin to cultivate an attitude that reflects Christ—one of humility, gentleness, and a heart fully yielded to His will?
With a Thankful Heart,
Sam Mosca
