Have It Your Way…by Rick Mccotter

Burger King says “Have It Your Way”; Nike says “Just Do It”.  Almost all the advertising you observe and listen to is focused on YOU!  If you buy me you will be happy, look your best, live out your dreams, have experiences you never imagined.  Really?  Well, it seems there is always an element of truth in deception.  The sliver of truth is that yes, there are items you purchase or want that will make life more comfortable and, that’s ok.  But, is Having It Your Way, always the best way?  What did Jesus say is the Best Way?  Let’s take a look.

Jesus said that the BEST WAY is to surrender your will (self-life, “have it your way”) to him.  The greatest crisis you will ever face in life is the surrender of your will to Jesus.  Jesus will not force us or beg us to surrender our will.  He patiently waits until you willingly yield to him; then the BEST happens to you:

1.Surrender for Deliverance…Matthew 11:28…Come to me all you who are we weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you REST.
2.Surrender for Devotion…Matthew 16:24…If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way (your self-life), take up your cross, and follow me.
3.Surrender for ONENESS with Him…Romans 6:5…Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was.  Eternal Life with Him!

Nothing the world offers can give you Deliverance from yourself, Peace and Rest.  Everything the world offers is temporary, why would we want to have any devotion to things that ultimately are empty in view of eternity with Jesus.  The world can’t offer us permanent oneness and eternal life with Jesus.  Remember the world is not our home, we are strangers here, just passing through on our way to eternity…the issue is, where will we spend eternity?

Oneness with the World will bring you permanent separation from Jesus…. DEATH!

Oneness with Jesus will give you ETERNAL LIFE with HIM, the one who truly loves you and desires to be one with you.

So here is the challenge for all of us; How do I want it?  Do I want it my way and have empty temporary satisfaction…or, Do I want it God’s way, a life of Surrender which gives me everlasting Love, Joy Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Gentleness, Faithfulness and Self-Control.

Choose this day whom you will serve.
