Worshipping God Together; What’s That Look Like? - Written by Rick McCotter

Verse:  Hebrews 10:24-25.  “Let us think of ways (create) to motivate one another to acts of love and good works (worship activities).  And let us not neglect our meeting together as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.”

Thought:  Our goal as believers is to become a Disciple of Jesus.  One that, over time, takes on more and more of the Character Traits of Jesus and learns to naturally respond to “LIFE” as Jesus would.

Part of our journey, transforming into a Disciple, requires us to master the 7 growth strategies we have been learning each Sunday in our Victorious Series at the Sunday service.  Today let’s focus on the Worshipping together Growth strategy.

Worship is so much more than music and singing songs together at church.  Some people just connect worship with music but that is not the case.  As we meditate on the verse above we read clearly to create ways to encourage fellow believers to do random acts of kindness and good works towards others.  We may say that works is a Service spiritual growth activity; I say yes and also a wonderful form of worship to God.  It pleases God much when he watches you as his child play with or serve another one of his children.  Kids playing nice together always makes parent happy.  Loving on other people is a form of worship; because, you are loving on God’s most important creation, another human being that he loves as much as you.

When we are a good steward of what God has giving us; we take care and maintain our material possession, this a form of worship that pleases God.  Sharing our blessing with others is worship.  Social media can be a platform for worshipping together.

So, let’s take a minute to think creatively of many different acts of Worship.  What did you come up with?  Who are you worshiping with?  What type of worship activities are you creating that you and a friend or a group of friends can do together?

Application/Challenge:  Below is a list of simple, yet effective ways you can worship God with others.

  • Paint a house, mow a yard, cook some meals, invite folks over for a meal, hang out with others and talk about what God is showing you, pray together with others regularly (start a pray group via phone)
  • Have events to be together:  Have a game night at your house, do a weekend cookout, take one or two couples or friends out for dinner, ladies…go shopping together, guys watch some sports together/go golfing together
  • Start a Facebook page or Instagram page to connect believers to share what’s going on with them, prayer request, sharing struggles, hurts, just share life together

In summary, Worshipping together is much more than you may have thought.  Being together with others and just fellowshipping and doing life together is a great form of worship.  Think of it like this; you and your spouse have 4 kids, they are all married and have kids, you all get together for a reunion and you and the wife just observe all your kids and grandkids telling stories, laughing, playing together, creating memories and just being people enjoying others.  That’s a beautiful picture of fellowship and worship when we are together being what God created us to be.  God created us to Love Him and Love People.  When we do that we are doing the will of God and that is a high form of Worship.

Get out there is week and start worshipping with some of your favorite Peeps.  Don’t just be a hearer of the word….be a doer as well.  Grab some folks and worship!!!
