Jesus said, “I am the light of the world he who follows me should not walk in darkness, but have the light of life” John 8:12

Jesus said, “Sit here while I go over there and pray” Matt 26:39

We just finished a series of teachings called “But have you prayed?” Four weeks breaking open the importance of prayer. Sacrificial prayer, Asking the lord from a humble place in your heart. Relational prayer, a conversation with your savior. Genuine prayer, authentic emotion in your conversations with Him. Prayer & fasting, gaining spiritual power, divine direction, pain tolerance and physical restoration.

I often say that Jesus is my role model, and I mean it with every fiber of my being. As a child we are taught that a role model is a person who we should look to as an example and that we should imitate them. I have realized, it’s never too late to find a role model.

Jesus can be found over and over going off to pray.

After the multiplication of loaves, Mark 6:46; Immediately before choosing his apostles, Luke 6:12; Before Peter professes Jesus is Christ, Luke 9:18; Immediately before the Transfiguration, Luke 9:28; Before teaching us the Our Father, Luke 11:1; Before His crucifixion Matt 26:36

Jesus shows us a clear path, Prayer is the answer.

The more spiritually connected I become with Christ the more I realize it all comes down to my continual conversations, or prayer, with Him. He brings me closer to God minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day. He is deepening my relationships with people. He is providing the direction I go in every decision I make. He is providing the comfort in my moments of unease. He is telling me, If it’s important enough to worry about, it’s important enough to pray about!

I recently learned of a man named George Muller. George wanted to help orphans in England. He wanted to build houses for them to live in, provide cloths and feed them but as was the times, 1800’s, there was no money for this endeavor. He committed that he would build this orphanage and provide for the children, but he would not ask for a cent. He was committed that the money would come solely thru the power of prayer. God would provide! He was 100% correct. His first house, which had just a few orphans, grew to thousands in a sprawling campus of houses- All because he partnered with God thru prayer

Prayer, simply put, is our expression of faith in Gods power.

Imagine that as Jesus was going out to pray, He quietly invited you to join him in his secret place. Try to picture Jesus praying. Where would his attention be? What would the expression be on his face? What would his posture be?

Take a moment and quietly remain there with him………….
