Vulnerability in Prayer by Marissa Lee

When it comes to prayer, this can be a truly vulnerable moment for you with God. Sometimes it has this pressure that you put on yourself revolving around it. Sometimes it doesn’t seem like we can formulate what we want to say.
But what it comes down to, is just spending time in the presence of God through words of our own or through His.

This past weekend Pastor Eric gave us an example of a prayer in Psalm chapter 23. Using the words God has given us doesn’t mean that it isn’t a worthy prayer. I think everyone at some point in their life has struggled with what to say. Feeling that their words may be inadequate or don’t measure up to what other people's prayer lives look like.

Romans 8:26 says: Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.
The Holy Spirit through God’s words can intercede when we are at a loss for what to pray.

Reflection:
God doesn’t expect us to have all the words we feel we should have when we pray. He already knows what we want to say. Opening up yourself and your heart and being truly transparent with God will change your prayer life completely.

Jeremiah 29:13
You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.
