Small Group Sunday

I have to admit that Small Group Sunday is one of my favorite Sunday’s. It is a time to see just how active the church is and what it has to offer. When I moved here almost 4 years ago, what was offered at a church in the way of studies and events is what I looked for. It helped me decide on the church I wanted to attend. Thrive Church has grown substantially over time with more and more opportunities to be a part of the church community.  If you have gotten to know me at all you know I am a joiner. I love being with people, doing events, and being in a community of believers. I need Church!

As Mikey told us in Sunday’s sermon -Humans need community. We were not made to go it alone in this life. While some may think they are doing just fine on their own and all is good, a time will come when they will need to have a community to fall back on. This is when the church is at its best. The church and the community in the church will be the first to arrive to help you. But the church needs to know you too. Have you reached out to others to be known?

Isolation is not a healthy way to live. Do not be afraid to let people know the real you. You do not have to be afraid of that. Everyone has skeletons in their closet, and that is why we are at church and why we are asking God to forgive our sins, cleanse us, and make us new. When we become a member of a church group, we can have others hold us accountable and rejoice in the friendships made and have joy by sharing our lives and being unburdened of our worries.   1Peter 5:7-“Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you,”

We all have a role to play in God’s world; he has given each of us a gift to use. In 1Peter 4:10 it says- “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” God loves diversity and he loves it when we are there for each other.  As much as I need the church, it is mutual- the church needs me too. Together, we can defeat isolation whether personal or spiritual. You do not have to be alone

If you missed this Sunday to sign up for a small group, it’s not too late. Classes are also offered for you to sign up online in the church app or call the church office (386-888-8190). Won’t you join us?

Hebrews 10:24-25 “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglection to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”
