“For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.”
Galatians 3:27 (NIV)

Baptism is a beautiful and powerful moment. It’s public, it’s meaningful, and it often feels like a fresh beginning. In Pastor Aarons sermon this past Sunday he reminds us it’s important to both understand and remember what baptism truly represents.

Baptism is not what saves us… it is a commitment that flows from salvation.

It is an outward expression of an inward decision. A declaration that Jesus is not only Savior, but Lord.

Before stepping into the water, there is a question each of us must answer:
Have I truly given my life to Christ?

Because baptism is more than a moment… it is a decision to walk in a new way of life.

When we come up out of the water, nothing magical has changed on the outside—but everything has been set in motion on the inside. From that point forward, we are choosing daily between life and death, blessing and curse, obedience and distraction.

Baptism is the beginning of that commitment.

It is also a step into something bigger than ourselves. We are not just choosing Christ—we are choosing to be part of His body, the Church. A community where we grow, are strengthened, and walk alongside one another in faith.

And in many ways, baptism mirrors the very nature of water itself.

Water refreshes.
Water cleanses.
Water hydrates.
Water brings growth.

Think of a plant. Without water, it may survive for a time—but it will never truly thrive. Its growth will be limited, its strength weakened.

In the same way, our spiritual lives require ongoing nourishment. Baptism may be the moment we are planted, but growth comes through what follows—time with God, obedience, community, and daily surrender.

Baptism is not the finish line.

It is the doorway into a life of growth.

Something to reflect on; Am I treating faith as a one-time moment, or an ongoing commitment?
