Resurrection is key
1 Corinthians 15:12-28 HCSB
Resurrection Essential to the Faith
12 But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13 If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. 14 And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. 15 More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised. 16 For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. 17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. 18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. 19 If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.
Christ’s Resurrection Guarantees Ours
20 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. 22 For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. 23 But each in turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him. 24 Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. 25 For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy to be destroyed is death. 27 For he “has put everything under his feet.” Now when it says that “everything” has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ. 28 When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all.
This past Sunday, Pastor Aaron’s message focused on the resurrection of Jesus. Jesus LITERALLY rose from the dead.
I find that sometimes we focus more on the time He spent on the cross and leading up to the cross when sharing the Good news(Gospel) with someone.
I usually say something to the fact that “Jesus died on the cross for your sins so that we could be forgiven.”
But I am missing the most important part!
When He rose out of the grave after three days, THAT was the key to all our sin being forgiven. That fulfilled everything He promised us.
As Corinthians says, if Christ had not been raised, our faith would be worthless!
Pastor Aaron said something this Sunday that really stood out to me.. “When you become a disciple of Jesus, you put fear away.”
That statement really struck me. I find sometimes in my walk with God, I let fear and doubt creep in. I let it control my thoughts, actions, feelings, decisions… Once it starts to have that foothold, the anxiety I try so hard to prevent cripples me. When I start to give it that power and let those negative voices in instead of God’s voice, the anxiety begins to rule me.
But when I give all my negative thoughts, all my anxieties, all my fear, all my doubts to Him… that changes everything.
His Resurrection is literally the key to everything.
Pastor Aaron left you all on a song reference this Sunday and I’d like to do the same.
“I got the key to my depression, Key to my shame, Key to my addiction, All in One Name
The key to all my worries, Fears and mistakes, The key to resurrection, All in One Name
And Jesus is the Lamb, For my forgiveness slain
Oh Jesus is the Lion, Who roared out of the grave
Holy, Holy, Holy, Only One Name, Worthy, worthy, worthy, Forever and always” - Where Oh Where by Elevation Rhythm
Remember that you can lay everything down at His feet. He has already paid the ultimate price. He rose out of the grave and fulfilled His promises.
Give all your cares and worries to Him.
